Things to do in Madrid on Grand Prix weekend
A low-stress city plan built around a demanding three-day race weekend.
Choose one anchor per day
The Prado, Reina Sofía, Royal Palace and Retiro are substantial visits. Put one major attraction on Thursday or Monday rather than squeezing several between track sessions.
Race-weekend evenings
Use compact neighbourhood plans: tapas close to your hotel on Friday, one booked dinner after qualifying, and a flexible Sunday celebration. Late Spanish dining hours help, but transport crowds can delay your return.
Build recovery time
Madrid in September can still feel hot, and race days involve long walks and standing. A shaded lunch and an unhurried evening can be more valuable than another cross-city journey.
