Quick answer

Control Electronics manage commands and energy flow across the hybrid power unit. They connect driver inputs, sensors, the MGU-K and Energy Store within FIA rules.

What they coordinate

The system interprets pedal and button requests, applies engine maps and manages when electrical energy is harvested or deployed.

Why software is regulated

Uncontrolled software freedom could create hidden driver aids or unsafe operating modes. Standardised interfaces, logging and FIA rules make behaviour auditable.

Season allocation

Control Electronics are counted independently in the component allowance. A hardware failure can therefore carry competitive consequences beyond one session.
